The Engineering Company Investing £100,000's Into Equipment & Their Workforce

Lerwick Engineering & Fabrication have been at the forefront of a number of industry areas since their inception in 1994. This includes crucially important work across oil & gas, decommissioning, marine, renewable and utility.

They have a prime quayside location where their facilities include workshops and storage areas totalling over 14,000m2. This includes one of the largest fabrication workshops in Shetland and also a purpose built blast and coating facility.

However, not all of their work is carried out from their main base.

Under the early stewardship of founding director, David Suckley, the company was involved in a number of projects for the likes of BP at the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal. In more recent years, as the company continued to evolve and progress, they would diversify and continue to heavily invest in their equipment and workforce.

This would be in order to continue offering clients across the United Kingdom cost-effective, high-quality solutions. In 2018, for instance, the company invested £350,000 into the equipment that went onto help them attain a wealth of contracts and produce exceptional levels of work.

They also added a new, top of the range Plasma CNC Profile Cutting Machine to their plant and machinery – it was to be one of only three available in the UK at the time. This, along with some key additions to the ranks of staff would see the business develop further than it had ever done before.

In the same year, the management at LEF would reach out to us here at JLP Internet and open a dialogue about a new website. Their website at the time was built in a DIY website builder and only one team member had access to it. This made it difficult to update content regularly and ultimately, the website was not in-line with the quality that LEF wanted to demonstrate.

The new website was designed and built from scratch over a short number of months to match LEF’s requirements. This included to both best promote the company while also making it much easier for the rest of the team to make much-needed changes to the websites content, adding news items, updating accreditation and adding new photos.

With this, we provided the team with training and an easy-to-use manual and we are always only an email or call away if there is any difficulty. Our work does continue on an ongoing basis too, as we currently provide the team with their emails through Managed Office 365.

If you are interested in hearing more about our work with LEF, you can read all about it on the case study we created. Alternatively, you can check out the LEF website or get in touch with us to discuss any potential projects you may have.
